The district is thinking about getting rid of the honors and advanced placement (AP) programs in an effort to get rid of tracking. This potential "detracking" policy might be implemented as soon as the winter semester starts, which will inevitably create problems as students will be forced to change their classes. "My best friends are in AP with me and now I'm going to have to sit with people I don't know," lamented one student and Mountlake Terrace High School. Another student complained about having to switch to second lunch claiming, "I'll be starving in my fourth period now and won't be able to do any work!" The fate of the honors/AP programs in the Edmonds School District is yet to be decided, but students should be prepared to sit with unknown classmates and be famished before lunch.
