A 1963 VW Baja Bug ran the quarter mile strip in Moncks Corner set a new worlds record for an air cooled engine.
The engine which was designed and built by resident genius Darren Webb was able to turn the dyno at 30,000 horse power, run the quarter in 3.05 seconds and then stopped in 10 feet without using parachutes, all this using only 3 tablespoons of gasoline.
