After much debate, the Loudoun County School Board have adopted a new calendar for the 2019-2020 school year. There has been multiple, closed door meetings in which parent advocacy groups met with the board members to discuss community concerns about children being bored during the summer. Due to these complaints, the new school calendar will require students to attend school throughout the summer. In the described calendar, there will be four quarterly sessions, with a two week break in between each grading quarter. There will also be a two week spring break in the month of February, and a two week winter break in December. There will also be 10 snow days built into the calendar, giving students a total of 305 days of school. No citizen input will be heard at this time, since the calendar has been ratified by the superintendent.
