After winning the Grand slam in the Six Nations Under 20s Championship for only the second time in there history this year. Many fans believed this was maybe Irelands best chance of going one better than they did in 2016 when they lost to England in the final. But In defeats to Australia, England (the playoff match) and New Zealand, Ireland leaked fistfuls of points in short bursts, a vulnerability that cost them a chance to add further silverware to the Six Nations Grand Slam title triumph earlier in the season. Instead France squeezed out Australia in the final to retain the trophy they won on home soil last year. Pre tournament injuries didn't help Noel McNamara's side, but ultimately failure in this world cup has led the IRFU into making a change to there management structure.

The man set to take the rains is Limerick native Daragh Frawley who recently was forced to retire from the game due to an on going back problem. Frawley has had coaching experience over the last couple of years with Castletroy College whom he won a senior cup medal with in 2008. Many might remember him as the goal kicking second-row. Frawley has been an integral part of AIL side UL Bohemians for a number of years now and was set to be part of the coaching ticket this year, but the opportunity to take over as head coach of the Irish 20s side was said to be too much to turn down. It's not yet known who will make up Frawley's backroom team but we will bring it too you as soon as we hear.
