The popular sports field, dog park, and disc golf course in Franklin off Lincoln Street have recently been bought out. The fields home to many youth soccer and baseball games will soon be paved over to make room for new condominiums. Many expressed their frustration to the town, yet the council seems that they will not budge on the issue.
While some have expressed their anger towards the destruction of the family-friendly fields, others like Franklin resident Mary Cartwright have expressed their excitement for the new condos. Mary shared a quote with us saying that she is “thrilled for these new condos!” Her reasoning for that is “[She] feels as if they will be great for the community and make Franklin even better.” Others like Kevin Randolf who live near the fields like the construction of the new condominiums for different reasons. “I’m excited to get rid of the fields.” Kevin told us, “I live right next Dacey and don’t get to sleep in on the weekends with the constant noise of children yelling and screaming all day.”
Whatever your feelings are on the issue, there is still time to express your opinion, we have gotten word that construction will not start until the summer of 2020. There has been a lot of construction going on in the town of Franklin with the town wanting to create cut-throughs in small neighborhoods filled with children so it should be no surprise that many companies are looking to start their business and Franklin, which, is taking away from the residents who are living there.
