Seagulls are your typical annoying bird. Stealing food, squawking loudly, the usual. But are they really as stupid as you think? This study shows otherwise. This study has showed that seagulls have strategies and tactics that help them distract people in groups while one distracts and scares the person as the other steals the food. They work on a ‘rota’ and take it in turns to steal the food. The ornithologist who conducted this study, Dr Hooperton, says that the birds may be smarter than dolphins. So be careful next time you see those birds, and don’t let them distract you.
