Yes, that is right. Mojang, the game studio that created minecraft, has officially confirmed that Minecraft will be shutting down late 2020. I did some more digging into this, and unfortunately found out that this is real.

Minecraft is a massive video game developed by Mojang. In 2014 Notch sold Minecraft to Microsoft for 2.5 Billion US Dollars.
