Local residents say at 7:43 PM, a Blue Chevy pickup truck with a dented right bumper and the plate number PI-4041 pulled into the parking lot of Cedar International School, traveling on Blackburn Highway from Greenville in East End and opened fire upon the mix of students, teachers, and families that were leaving the school. Diners at the local restaurant, Tradewinds, immediately took cover and as soon as the shooting ceased and the suspects fled the scene, the diners worked their way to the victims and called 091 for assistance. Six people are confirmed dead, including two minors, and eighteen are known to be wounded and police are collecting information on the suspects at the moment. They also suspect that the suspects may have been in wait for a while, waiting for the large cluster of people to leave the school and step into the open area. Local authorities are looking into the case and are sweeping the island for the two suspects. School will be cancelled for the next week or potentially longer. The island is on lockdown for the time being, with businesses and shops closed and locked up. District Premier Andrew Fahie and BVI Governor Augustus Jaspert are set to give live statements on the matter on WBVI-7 at 9:30 PM tonight.
