Photobombing is easy, right? Gurn in the background, ruin someone's photo, have a great laugh. Pulling off an audacious, artistic and actually funny photobomb, however, is much tougher - which is why Huawei is holding a competition to find the cream of the crop. They're searching for your best photobombs and the winners will grab themselves a brand new Huawei P40 Pro phone.
Huawei's Golden Snap technology, a feature in the new Huawei P40 Pro, uses AI to help remove any random passers-by from your photos, meaning you can expunge any unwanted visitors from the background of your images.
Getting a good photobomb is harder than you think. Sure, you can just stand in the back of someone else's shot and pull a silly face, or stick your fingers up behind someone's head, but realistically, what are you adding to the world there?
A standout photobomb can be a work of art. Mostly, they feature celebrities you didn't know were there - there's an excellent one of the janitor from Scrubs lurking around a couple at a baseball match - and you might even remember the one where comedian (and all round legend) Jimmy Carr rushed into shot to jump behind a group of friends on a night out in Glasgow, poking his mug up behind a group photo
and simply waiting for the picture to be taken, with the four friends seemingly unaware.
As far as photobombing is concerned, Huawei has an answer to many of the age-old problems. The Golden Snap feature alongside its already incredible camera in the P40 Pro, is designed to keep your photos photobomb-free, or at least, to salvage your snaps that some prat in the background has done their best to ruin.
