Local authorities were called to the scene of a potato floating in the river. Colorado Department of Fish and Game has confirmed that the potato is more than likely a standard russet which can be found in most grocery stores country wide. Why anyone would discard a perfectly good potato is still a mystery, but local officials are searching for clues. Though officials have admitted it was oddly shaped, perhaps making it less desirable to eat, the potato was still firm with no signs of rot or sprouting eyes. Local law enforcement will remain on the case and update the public when more details are available. USDA is insistent that the public need not be alarmed, and that potatoes are still safe to eat.
