Two Great White Sharks have been spotted swimming in the River Bann Near Coleraine, Northern Ireland.
While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have make their way up the River Bann somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 5 mile journey from the mouth of the River Bann that is connected to the Atlantic Ocean. Officials in Coleraine have contacted the Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
Causeway Coast & Glens Borough Council have posted shark warning signs and closed the nearby Edge Watersports at The Crannagh Activity Centre Coleraine until further notice.
