On Monday March 29, 2021, Yoshihide Suga the President of Japan announced how he was going to cancel anime in the country. Suga talks about how the cost of anime airing on television is to expensive. Suga mentions that since the pandemic, it has been really hard for Japan to get the resources needed to provide mask, sanitizer, gloves, etc. The hospitals are flooding with patients and doctors are running out of supplies to nurse the patients back to health. There have been protesters in the north side of Japan protesting to keep anime a live. Togita Menati, one of the protesters stated “Anime is a way for people to enjoy themselves. Anime has been shared all over across the world. How would out her places like America benefit from now Anime just for the safety of Japan.” Anime has the audience of mostly teens and young adults. Others like the elderly have a care for the safety of Japan. The decision is yet to be decided by Suga and the rest of the presidential committee. People from other countries like The U.k. and The U.s. are starting to protest as well. If Suga doesn’t make up his mind soon, that could mean great danger of Japan from its anime lovers.
